Tourists and locals alike stop, snap, and comment on this delightfully dick-y sign brought to us by the combined efforts of the proud proprietors of Mei Dick Barber Shop, and the vagaries of transliteration. Photographers from the hipster fabulous Terry Richardson to the random giggling tourist have sensed that this sign says something real and meaningful about New York City and its multifaceted culture. Also, it says MEI DICK right there on the sign, awesome!

See Mei Dick in person at 37 Mott Street, near Pell Street in Chinatown. If you're on for it give these guys some business, they don't make much money off providing a photo-op in the form of the most dick friendly barbershop sign in NYC.

Recent web stats have reminded NYD that all sites are blessed, at least a little, this holiday season. Thanks so much to the 487 unique visitors that have come by to see what's up. And a special thanks to the large number of web robots that have visited, we have such warm feelings for these penis loving robots that keep popping in at all hours just to make sure we're ok. NYD wants to thank everyone, sentient or not, who has visited the site or purchased the book, and as always we remind you to please come by as often as possible, the site is always being updated with fascinating dick-ish content for your dick-ish viewing pleasure.

NYD RANKED #43 ON AMAZON!

For a brief flickering moment this week NYD seemed headed for the best-seller list, at least the Amazon best-seller list. That is of course Amazon UK (love those naughty Brits!), and it's only #43 in the sub-sub-sub category of Graffiti, but we at NYD feel it's still very much something to be proud of.

A more detailed analysis: ranked 64,045 in Books / ranked somewhere in the thousands in Art, Architecture & Photography / ranked in the hundreds in Graphic Arts / ranked 43 in Graffiti, awesome!

And, NYD was only able to get it's rank up for about four hours (but as you may know doctors advise any dick book with an up rank lasting more than four hours to seek medical attention.)

Thank you United Kingdom for your persistent interest in idiotic, smutty, public displays, and the books that love them. And don't be shy about asking your local purveyor of printed matter if they can offer you something in the way of dicks, preferably of the New York variety. 

RICKY GERVAIS, A BIG RED KNOB, BRILLIANT!

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, writers and stars of the original British TV-series "The Office" have given us a glimpse into the British mind coming of age in their movie Cemetery Junction. And why else would that glimpse be interesting except that it is also a glimpse of a big red penis (or "knob" as our friends across the water so delightfully put it), drawn on a real estate billboard's typically ernest salesman, and some scribbled in smutty talk from the children of this typical family, and some knockers drawn on the typical wife for good measure (spot on!) The Brits really seem to understand the worldview of New York Dick, although in this case we're seeing an example of nasty red Cemetery Junction dick.

Released straight to dvd this summer Cemetery Junction hasn't received as much notice as it should, but it's a fine film and it absolutely has the best advertising defacement by penis drawing scene in years. It has Johnson (™) contender written all over it (the Johnson being the coveted NYD award for best penis graphic, penis drawing or dick-ish visual in pop culture).
