Not all of the dickness in New York is unwarranted, there is a rich tradition of relevant and aggressive political speech throughout the city, much of it scrawled across subway posters. Subversive subway riders don't just use the posters as an easy to write on substrate, but also as an argument starter and amplifier of meaning, dickishly  weaving image and message.

FUCK THE NEW WORLD ORDER
This is statement of defiance that never goes out of style. Whether you are referencing a totalitarian one-world government, or Republican claims of honky-doriness, "new world orders" almost always mean someone is getting screwed, physically, economically, politically, maybe all three. And what better way to state your disgust with the new flavor of your personal shit sandwich than voicing it across the teeth of a smiling black man. We all know where this guy is coming from.

JUSTICE FOR SEAN BELL
The tragic story of a series of terrible mistakes that leaves a young man dead, or hopped up trigger happy cops shoot three honest citizens to pieces leaving one dead? There is some difference of opinion here, but writing the question in the sky above the image of a tv show DEA raid makes a strong statement. Not just about law enforcement but also about our culture's relationship to it, racism, and violence in general. Sound over blown? Look up Sean Bell.

This comment is probably referring to the whole hate speech industry of right wing tv and radio commentary, possibly Fox News in general, and Greta Van Susteren specifically. And what about the writer's feeling that they're all Hitlerite liars, well, let's just say that there's not much difference of opinion on this one.

NYD feels that sometimes a statement must be made and a message sent, if you can do it by drawing a penis on the butt of a movie star then all the better, but if words seem to strike the right dickish note then do what has to be done, being a prick is an important part of being a real true blue American, ask Fox News.
